A Day At Tsowa
"Tsowa" means ‘new beginnings’, which is what the gentle ripples of the Zambezi River will say to you if you listen closely as you wake slowly from within your luxurious island tent. The call from a faraway Fish eagle might encourage you to rise for a steaming cup of coffee in the dappled early morning sunlight.
A short boat trip across the river to the mainland where your game viewing vehicle will be waiting for you and your expert guide to take you on a drive through the Zambezi National Park. Spend an exhilarating 3 hours observing Africa’s wild animals in their natural habitat. A welcome refreshment break will be taken at a view spot offering endless views of the river and park.
When you return to the island camp a delicious brunch will be served on the dining deck. The day is then either yours to enjoy – relaxing at the swimming pool, lying in a hammock under the trees, or exploring the island on foot as you discover 2000 year old trees – or, for the more adventurous, you can opt for a guided canoe trip down the river on inflatable canoes. The trip down the river lasts approximately 1.5 hours followed by lunch on the river banks and a drive back through the Zambezi National Park in an open 4x4 game viewer where you will have ample opportunity to view more game – the total excursion lasts about 3 hours.
Nothing tastes better than your favourite drink while cruising down the river watching an iconic African sunset with elephants quenching their thirst at the water’s edge or hippos yawning in the shallows.
The end to a perfect day is enjoyed on the dining deck while eating a delicious dinner followed by recounting the day’s activities and sightings around an open fire under an inky black, star-studded African sky.
